Gilmore Girls and Paolo Nutini

3rd November 2014 Paul Chris Jones

I'm not sure why, but I feel happy in this current moment. I spent the last two and an half hours writing an essay, and at the same time, My girlfriend was watching Gilmore Girls - a surprisingly witty and likeable drama. My work was so easy that I could listen to the TV show at the same time. I guess the combination of earning money in a fairly enjoyable way while absorbing a nice TV program is a doubly-effective way to be happy. It was a nice way to spend a couple of hours. It reminded me of being snug on Christmas evening, my parents contented and dozing, and my brother and sister quiet and distracted, and me engrossed in a new toy or book. No-one fighting, and the night stretching on forever...

On Christmas Day, you're expected to relax - there are no obligations to do anything. Well, at least, Christmas evenings in my house were like that. Perhaps this is why Sundays and staying up late are enjoyable too - they're times when we have no expectations put on us.

It really just comes down to:

I'm currently listening to These Streets by Paolo Nutini. The song seems to be about happiness despite hardship. It's one of my favourite songs by one of my favourite artists. Despite this, I'm not sure how the chorus how goes. To me, he's saying...

these streets have too many names for me, I'm used to Glenfield road and spending my time down in an orgy

An orgy? Really? Hm.
